Heal Before You Bleed On Other People
Life can bring us betrayals, illness, death, loss, abandonment and a number of other things to hurt us. If we don’t heal from things that hurt us we risk bleeding on other people who never hurt us. In this podcast episode, "Heal Before You Bleed On To Other People," Rose Love emphasizes the critical importance of healing from past pain and hurt to avoid unintentionally harming others (0:28). She explains that unhealed wounds can manifest as distrust, anger, and coldness towards innocent people like friends, partners, colleagues, and even family members (3:00). Rose shares a personal anecdote about a friend who was projecting past relationship fears onto her current, loving husband (3:53). This illustrates how unhealed hurt can lead to assuming betrayal where there is loyalty and punishing others for wounds they didn't inflict (8:25). The speaker stresses that healing is a process that must be gone through, not around or over (9:46). While the beginning of the healing journey can be challenging due to revisiting past trauma, it does get easier over time (10:02). Rose shares her own healing journey after losing her fiancé in 2017, highlighting the importance of taking time and not rushing the process (10:59). She also discusses various methods of healing, noting that what works for one person may not work for another (12:54). Rose shares her experiences with therapy for depression (13:14), gardening (13:47), having a pet (14:18), walking in nature and praying (14:50), and working out (15:23) as ways she found healing. Rose concludes by reiterating that when broken from hurt or pain, people tend to unintentionally "bleed" onto others (16:00). She urges listeners to get into a place of healing, surrender the fight, and let go, emphasizing that while we cannot change the past, we can heal from it (17:16). She warns against dying unhealed and references Hebrews 12:15, advising not to let bitterness cause trouble for others or ourselves (18:08).
